Privacy Policy
Who we are: RealMove ("RealMove," "we," "us") runs the RealMove iOS app and realmove.io. Contact: privacy@realmove.io · https://realmove.io
The short version: we collect what the app plainly needs — your account details, the videos you choose to record, the scores our software computes from them, and standard purchase and usage data. We use your videos to score your movement and to run the social features you can see. We do not sell your personal information, we do not use your videos or body data to identify you, and we do not show ads. You can make any attempt private, and you can delete your account — and all your videos — in the app at any time.
1. Information we collect
Website and early-access waitlist information. When the production waitlist is enabled and you choose to join it, we collect your email address, whether you are joining as an athlete or creator, the page or campaign that referred you, and a record of when and how you consented. We use this information to manage early access, understand which invitations work, and send the launch or product emails you expressly requested. You can unsubscribe from those emails at any time or ask us to delete your waitlist record. The website clearly states when a form is only a non-storing preview.
Website technical and security data. Our website hosting and security providers receive standard request data such as IP address, browser and device details, requested URL, timestamps, and security signals needed to deliver and protect the site. They may set cookies that are strictly necessary for security and reliable delivery. RealMove does not currently use advertising cookies or optional website analytics. If that changes, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for consent before enabling them.
Account information. Email address, display name, handle, year of birth, and a password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider). If you sign in with Apple, TikTok, or Instagram, we receive the account identifier and, where you permit it, your name, profile photo, and username from that provider — never your password for that service. Year of birth is collected once, to enforce our age rules (13+ required; under-16 accounts default to private), and is not displayed to other users.
Videos you provide. Reference videos you create for a move, promotional intro videos for a course or creator profile, and attempt videos submitted when trying a move. You can record in RealMove or explicitly choose a video from your photo library. RealMove receives only the video you select; it does not browse or import the rest of your library. RealMove never captures video in the background, and the app's camera is used for no other purpose.
Movement Data (movement analysis derived from video). To produce a score, our software estimates the positions of body landmarks (joints) in each frame of your video and compares their motion with the challenge's reference video, producing an overall score, sub-scores by dimension and body region, a per-second accuracy timeline, and short-lived aligned frame images for your score report (together, "Movement Data"). Because this is data about your body's motion, we treat it with heightened care:
Consent first. You accept the analysis of your movement in the acknowledgment shown before your first recording; nothing is analyzed before that. Nothing is analyzed until you press record or explicitly choose a video, and recording only ever happens when you press record.
Purpose limits. Movement Data is used only to score your attempts, show your progress, and — in de-identified, aggregated form — to compute challenge difficulty ratings and improve scoring accuracy. We never use it to identify you or anyone else, to infer health conditions, or to measure or evaluate body shape, size, weight, or appearance, and we do not use face recognition.
No sale, no ads. We do not sell Movement Data, share it with data brokers or advertisers, or use it for advertising of any kind.
Deletion. Movement Data linked to you is deleted immediately with your account (or with an individually deleted attempt); de-identified aggregates (like a challenge's difficulty rating) are not linked to you and may be retained.
To opt out of de-identified model-improvement use, email privacy@realmove.io — opting out costs no functionality.
Purchases. Subscription status and product identifiers from Apple (Apple processes all payments — we never see your card number). If you are a creator who connects payouts, our payment partner Stripe collects the identity and banking information that money-transfer law requires; we receive only the connection status and payout amounts.
Social and activity data. Who you follow, groups you join, challenges and courses you interact with, scores and streaks, and your in-app settings, including your per-attempt privacy choices and your acceptance of our terms and safety acknowledgment (with document version and timestamp).
Device and usage data. Device model, OS version, app version, language, approximate region derived from IP address, push-notification token (if you allow notifications), timezone, and event logs of app activity (for example: a challenge was viewed, an attempt was scored, an error occurred). We retain limited error events so we can fix problems. RealMove does not currently include a third-party crash-reporting SDK; if that changes, we will update this policy and our App Store privacy disclosures before collecting that data.
What we deliberately do not collect: precise location; contacts (inviting friends uses your device's share sheet — your contacts never touch our servers); advertising identifiers; background audio or video.
2. How we use information
To run the service: score your attempts, render leaderboards and profiles, operate challenges, courses, groups, subscriptions, streaks, and notifications you've enabled.
To keep scoring honest: detect duplicate submissions and enforce our fair-play and quota rules.
To keep people safe: enforce age rules, review reported content, and protect against fraud and abuse.
To pay creators: compute earnings and process payouts through Stripe.
To improve RealMove: aggregate, de-identified analytics about how features are used, and diagnostics when something breaks. When you flag a score as wrong, we use that attempt's video and analysis to investigate and improve scoring quality.
To communicate: service messages (receipts, security, changes to these terms) and the notification categories you can switch off in Settings. For people who expressly join the website waitlist, this also includes the launch and product emails described at signup; every commercial email includes a working unsubscribe method.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. There are no third-party ads in RealMove.
Your videos are never used in RealMove marketing — not in ads, not on our social accounts — unless you (or a parent or guardian, for users under 18) first give separate, express, per-clip consent, which is revocable at any time via privacy@realmove.io.
3. Your videos and visibility
RealMove is a social app, and video visibility follows clear rules:
Reference videos stay private while automated safety and technical checks run. Recordings that pass publish to the audience you selected for the move (public, subscribers-only, or private); recordings that do not pass require a new capture.
Course intro videos stay private during automated safety and technical checks. Recordings that pass become promotional catalog media: anyone who can discover the course may stream its intro, including before subscribing. Recordings that do not pass require a new capture.
Creator intro videos stay private during automated safety and technical checks. Recordings that pass follow the creator's profile visibility; recordings that do not pass require a new capture.
Attempt videos are social by default: when you submit an attempt, it appears on that challenge's leaderboard where other users can watch it only after automated safety approval. At every submit you can mark the attempt private instead — your score still counts, but only you can watch the video. Scoring begins only after the recording passes the safety gate. Accounts with a private profile — including every under-16 account by default — get "private" preselected each time.
Group videos are visible only to that group's members.
Reference, attempt, group-video, and course-intro playback uses short-lived signed links. A storage path alone never grants access.
4. How long we keep things
Videos and scores: kept while your account exists, so your history, bests, and leaderboard entries keep working. Deleting your account permanently deletes your videos (see Section 7). You can also request removal of an individual video at privacy@realmove.io.
Score-report frame images: small thumbnails derived from your video for the score screen; deleted with the attempt.
Account data: kept while your account exists; deleted with it.
Waitlist records: kept until you withdraw consent or for no longer than 24 months after your last interaction with RealMove, whichever comes first.
Payout and purchase records: kept as long as tax and financial law requires, even after account deletion.
Acceptance records (terms/safety, with version and timestamp): kept as evidence of agreement for as long as legally relevant.
Diagnostics and analytics: kept in identifiable form no longer than 12 months, then deleted or de-identified.
5. Who we share with
Service providers (processors) acting on our instructions:
Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
Modal — the cloud computers that run movement scoring.
Cloudflare and our website hosting provider — website delivery, TLS, and abuse prevention.
Apple — payments, subscriptions, and push notifications.
Stripe — creator identity verification and payouts.
Each receives only what its job requires and may not use your data for its own purposes. Other users see what the product shows them: your handle, profile, published content, leaderboard entries, and any videos your privacy choices make visible. Creators you subscribe to see aggregate subscriber counts and earnings — never your payment details. Authorities: we disclose data only where the law genuinely requires it, and we review every demand. Business transfer: if RealMove is acquired or merged, data transfers with the service under this policy's protections, and we will notify you.
6. Children and teens
Under 13: not allowed. Signup requires a year of birth and blocks anyone under 13, in the app and again at the server. If we learn an under-13 account exists despite these gates, we delete it and its data. Parents or guardians: contact privacy@realmove.io.
13–15: protected by default. Profiles start private, attempt videos default to private at every submit, and these accounts are hidden from search and global leaderboards until the settings are changed.
Under 18: we ask that a parent or guardian review our terms and the Safety & Assumption of Risk acknowledgment with you. Parents can contact us at any time about their child's account, including to request deletion.
7. Your rights and controls
In the app, right now:
Per-attempt privacy on every submit; private-profile setting; search and leaderboard visibility toggles; notification switches by category.
Block users and report content.
Delete your account (Settings → Delete account): a three-step confirmed flow that permanently and immediately removes your profile, challenges, courses, scores, follows, group memberships, and every video you uploaded. This is real deletion, not deactivation.
By email (privacy@realmove.io): request a copy of your data (portable format), correction of inaccurate data, deletion of specific items, or object to a use of your data. We respond within 30 days.
Regional rights. Depending on where you live, you may have specific statutory rights: access, correction, deletion, portability, and the right to withdraw consent (GDPR/UK GDPR; PIPEDA and Quebec Law 25 in Canada); the rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale/sharing — noting we do not sell or share personal information for advertising — with no discrimination for exercising them (California CCPA/CPRA and similar state laws). You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. We honor these rights for everyone, not just where the law requires.
8. Security
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production systems is restricted and logged; non-promotional videos are served only through short-lived signed links; passwords are hashed by our authentication provider and unknown to us. No system is perfectly secure — if a breach affects your data, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
9. International transfers
Our infrastructure providers store and process data in data centers that may be outside your country (primarily North America). Where transfer rules apply (for example, from the EU/UK), we rely on our providers' standard contractual clauses and equivalent safeguards.
10. Changes to this policy
We will post updates here, update the version and date above, and give notice in the app for material changes — including, where required, asking for your consent again. Continued use after the effective date means the updated policy applies.
